LeVar Burton Launches Reading Rainbow Kickstarter
So it looks like we will be looking for the “Butterfly in the sky” soon. That is if the Reading Rainbow former host and producer LeVar Burton has anything to say about it. The series ran from the 1980s through 2006 and the reruns aired till 2009. LeVar Burton has announced that he wants to bring the show back for “every child, everywhere.”
Now he’s not planning on doing it alone. He has turned to Kickstarter to raise $1 million to bring Reading Rainbow to web browsers and classrooms.
Most of us might not know it but The Reading Rainbow tablet app which was released in 2013, four years after the show’s cancellation, has become the world’s most popular education app. But only 33 percent of households have access to tablet computing, so Burton is turning the app into a web service.
The Kickstarter campaign is now live and the video below will explain more of the details.
