Splashtop: The Remote Access Program You Didn’t Know You Needed

by

Have you ever come across something you wish you knew about earlier? Well my friends, that’s exactly what Splashtop is.

Let me set a scene for you, As you are the tech savvy member of your family, you are often the one who gets called by parents/grandparents when their computer doesn’t seem to work properly.

What have we all done many times? Tried in vein to coach them through it over the phone? How many times has that worked?

What if i told you that you have a simple and inexpensive program at your disposal that would allow you to monitor and fix most of those pesky problems without having to leave your house? Well that is exactly what i am telling you.

Splashtop remote access solutions has a variety of programs, Splashtop Business Access, Splashtop Remote Support and Splashtop Personal allow the user to connect to a control their systems from wherever needed.

During this review i have spent my time using the Splashtop Personal program, this has allowed me to install the streamer on multiple computers and devices (Splashtop is compatible with iPad, iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire, Windows tablet, Windows Phone, and of course Mac or Windows PC) and remotely access, monitor and control those devices at a whim.

After a quick installation of the streamer and the Splashtop app you are ready to go.

Once you have loaded the viewer (I used it on my Samsung smartphone) you are greeted with a few help screens.

Whilst using the free version of the program you are only able to use the program when connected to the same network, so if you live in a big house with multiple computers etc you are pretty sweet to go, however if you want to utilize the program to its full potential you will need to purchase the “Anywhere Access Pack”.

At $16.99 for a full year I can’t really complain at what you get in return. once purchased you are able to use Splashtop across the internet. Our global server infrastructure will ensure that you can access remotely from anywhere and your data is always fully secured end-to-end

One other neat little feature is the remote camera option, this enables you to remotely view from the access points camera.

I have to say, as a parent this alone was a great added feature as I was able to quickly check on the kids in the living room while out of the room.

As a whole I can’t rate splashtop much higher, the tech support are fantastic if you have any issues and they are continuing to improve the program.
