Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “0-8-4” Review
✔Surprise end of the episode cameo.
✔References to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
✘Character development lacked.
Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to roll on with this second episode. Agent Coulson and his team, with the addition of Skye (Chloe Bennet), investigate an irregularity, codename 0(zero)-8-4, in Peru. However, the team encounters former acquaintance of Coulson, Camilla Reyes, that soon becomes more than just a reunion.
This episode delivers more than its previous episode. With that being said, one thing I am most grateful for, that they kept, is the constant references from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as a few mentions of the events occurring in New York to mentions of the Tesseract. I am pretty sure viewers of this show enjoy these little moments of dialogue because not only is it heavily interesting but also refreshing to hear information that people may have missed.
In regards to the action sequences, this episode is by far action-packed. Not only does it contain a balance of hand-to-hand combat, gunfire from both opposing sides but also contains an internal aircraft fight. In relation to the plot, the focus is placed more on the group and their group dynamic. With two qualified field agents mixed in with two scientists along with a civilian “consultant” there is most definitely bound to be tension. I was quiet iffy about this for the main reason of it being too early for the show. I would have loved it if they had dragged it out for at least of few more episodes to let the tension between the members build.
This episode is by far in the same standards of the first episode but lacks quiet a few things. Being more action packed, great. Being more focused on character development, uhh well it could have been worse. The only character with any development of any sort was Ming-Na Wen’s character, Melinda May. This episode is great though yet the show has not quiet found its pace but I am, as well as many others, in support of it.
