Hideo Kojima gets wish as MGS5 character Silent gets the cosplay treatment

A great deal has been made about, Hideo Kojima and his comments regarding the character, Silent in his upcoming tilte Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Gaming journalists from around the web have called him out on his remarks, even promoting him to respond by saying, “The reason Quiet wears very little clothing in Metal Gear Solid V is because it is very hot,” explained Kojima during the latest edition of the Kojima Productions podcast, “I think a lot of people do not understand that when it gets hot, you have the tendency to take off your clothes to avoid getting heat stroke. The tragic history of Quiet shows that she suffered from heat stroke as a child and therefore refuses to put on more clothes due to her fear of suffering from it again. It’s very moving.” Controversy aside, many fans around the internet wondered when we would see, Hideo’s newest creation get the cosplay treatment. As soon as he made the now infamous tweet, “I’ve been ordering to Yoji Shinkawa, character and environment artist for MGS V] to make the character more erotic, and he did it well. Recently I’ve been making characters this way. I create the setting thoroughly, how he/she spent early life, name, style, favorite phrase, fashion, action to stand the character out. The initial target is to make u want to do cosplay or its figurine to sell well.” fans have been eagerly awaiting that day. Well, this week we get our first look at, Silent being done by cosplayer, Kelly Jean, who’s pictures have been making the rounds throughout the gaming news world. Not only did she pull off a fantastic portrayal, but she is doing it for charity. You can read my exclusive interview with, Kelly Jean below. George Luis: So tell us a little about yourself. Kelly Jean: Heya, I’m a cosplayer and all around general nerd from the UK. GL: Talk to us about this “Quiet” cosplay from MGS V that has been making the rounds. KJ: I decided to do Quiet after quite a few people told me I looked a little like her (both as a positive and a negative!). But I figured I could do something useful from the attention it would generate due to it’s controversial nature in appearance and because of Hideo Kojima’s comments. GL: I see you are partnering up with charity Special Effect. Can you tell us a little about them and what they do. KJ: Special Effect are a charity based around the loaning of specially modified gaming controlers and consoles for those with disabilities. GL: What made you partner up with Special Effect? KJ: I am training to be a care worker/health care assistant. I think it’s great what these guys do! GL: Are there any comics or video games that you love and are currently reading/playing? KJ: I only read X-Men comics really. I am currently saving up for a new PC as my TV is awful for playing Xbox with as is my laptop for playing games, otherwise before all my technology died I was enjoying playing League of Legends. GL: Your Lilith cosplay from the Borderlands video game is incredible (Full disclosure, I do have two prints hanging in my office!). Where can we go to find out more about you and your work. KL: You can find me on my page (facebook.com/kellyjeanartist) or twitter (twitter.com/ai_honey). GL: Any new cosplay ideas and events coming up for you in the near future? KJ: I always have ideas! I still really want to do Patricia Tannis, and yell “BACON IS FOR SYCOPHANTS AND PRODUCTS OF INCEST” at people, haha. I have some events I’ll likely be doing next year, and I’ll anounce them on my page when I do. GL: I really appreciate you taking the time to answer some questions and we wish you the best with your charity drive and all your future endeavors.
