One of the best things about college life is all the friends you make and the new people you meet. When you are at a university you’ll likely get to know people from around the country and even from around the world. Having a great community is a special part of the college scene, and the friends and connections you make there can last a lifetime.
In days gone by, it was typical for a student to live in the residential dorms. There was a community there but the rooms were small, overly crowded and it seems everyone was pushed into a really constricted space. Fortunately students can now choose to live in off-campus apartments where they still share a community but also have all the comforts and amenities that modern apartment living brings.
Increased Space
When you live in a dorm you never have enough space. Roommates have too little personal space and it feels like you live in a little box where everything is stacked on top of everything else. With most off-campus apartments and other housing options, there’s typically a full living room, a private bedroom and extra room for storage too. With your own bedroom, you always have personal space you can retreat to when you need to study or just hang out by yourself.
Your Private Bathroom
One of the best features of many off-campus housing units is that each resident can have their own private bathroom. Instead of queuing up and having to wait to use the sinks or showers in a communal bathroom in the dorm, you can simply access your own private bathroom when you need to get ready in the morning. There’s no traipsing down the cold, dark halls in winter to reach the crowded dorm bathroom anymore.
Fully Equipped Kitchen
In the dorms it gets really old eating food that comes with your meal plans. When you are living in off campus student housing you will have a fully equipped kitchen where you can cook any meals you like and can even easily fix a great snack during a football game or late in the evening. With a kitchen right there in your living space, you’ll also save lots of money on food expenses.
Washer Dryer in Your Unit
When you live in a dorm room, laundry becomes a chore that never gets done. You have to scramble to find quarters and then lug everything to the laundry room, only to find out that all the washers might be taken. Off campus apartments and other housing choices have a washer and dryer right in your unit. It’s easy to take care of laundry while you study or when you are hanging out with your roommates watching TV.
If you are looking for a better quality of life during your college years, consider moving from dorm living to quality off campus housing that offers more personal space and better amenities. At the end of a long day of classes, it’s wonderful to come home to a nicely furnished apartment with all the comforts you need.
