Carter Boyle Duke Senior on Life On The Campus

Duke university has once again had the spotlight shone on it owing to the exploits of Coach Mike Kryzewski and Zion Williamson. If you haven’t seen anything about this then what has basically happened is that freshman Zion Williamson set the world of college basketball alight and has since been drafted as number 1 pick in the NBA, a truly amazing story. Everyone knew that Zion was great before he arrived at the college and his work with coach Kryzewski has helped him to reach even higher levels of success. For Carter Boyle Duke senior, this is welcome attention and something which he hopes will boost the attractiveness of the college to many. We spoke to Carter about the Blue Devils, the Duke basketball team and what new students can expect from life on campus.

Zion

During the year that Zion spent at Duke he was the catalyst to the university once again coming together and supporting the college basketball team. Carter tells us that sports is absolutely huge at the college but for many years it was the football and track teams which had the best success. When Zion came to the Blue Devils however everything changed, especially during those March Madness games. When the sports teams are playing, everyone either goes to watch or stops what they are doing to switch the TV on and support their Duke colors.

Greek Life

This is not a college with many frats or sororities, unique many colleges across the US. Carter tells us that there are a couple which exist but they don’t have large membership numbers.

Partying

Duke university is notoriously difficult to get into and that is because they only accept the best of the best. The result of this is a student body who really take their studies seriously and whilst they know how to party when it is time to do so, generally you won’t find the crazy parties at Duke which you can find at other universities around the country.

Social Scene

Instead of partying most students prefer to join groups or clubs in order to socialize and there is a huge array of social and hobby clubs which students can enjoy. Whatever your passion here you are sure to find it here from photography to movie clubs, community outreach programs, gaming clubs and book reading groups. If Duke students aren’t watching their team play or studying, they are enjoying some social time with their friends at one of these groups.

Diverse

Duke university is a college campus which is incredibly diverse and you can expect to meet people here from quite literally every type of background. This adds to the richness of this college and it is another reason why so many people enjoy coming here.

The students at Duke university know how to have fun but they are also massively committed to their studies and being the best that they can be.
