How to Access Money When Traveling Overseas

As you get ready to go on your next big trip, you may be thinking about how to access your money while you are traveling overseas. After all, you will need to get cash, check your account balance and make sure all the charges are correct! Luckily, accessing your money while overseas is quite easy and here is how you can do it.

Use Your Bank Website

If you just want to check your money while you are traveling, simply log on to your bank or credit cards website. You can typically do this from your phone, your hotels business center or an online café near where you are staying. Check your account balance, ensure your paycheck was deposited and also go over the transactions you have completed while abroad. With the internet available in most of the world, accessing your account should not be a problem!

Bring Cash

The easiest way to access your money while traveling overseas is to just have your cash on hand. Before you travel, visit FX Compare website and order some currency right into your bank account. Bring the money with you when you travel and, whenever you need to access your money, just reach into your pocket! Now that seems like the simplest way to get money while abroad for sure!

Find a Local Bank

Many banks are international or at least affiliated with various banks in other countries. Check what banks are partnered with your personal bank and then find one near where you are traveling. When you need to access your money while traveling, you can head to the foreign partner bank and have full access to your account. Take out cash, deposit money or just talk to a bank representative just as you would if you were home!

ATM Machines

If your debit or credit card has a Visa or MasterCard symbol on it, you can likely use it at any ATM across the world. This is a very simple way to access your money when you are traveling. Find a bank owned, reputable ATM and insert your card. On most machines, you will be able to withdraw cash in the local currency and check your account balance. Luckily, ATM machines often have very good exchange rates too, enabling you to get cash at a great rate!

Travel Money Card

An easy way to make sure you have access to your money and have it readily available in the foreign currency, invest in a travel money card. These are reloadable debit cards that you can put money on before you travel. Use the card while overseas just as you would any debit card, however, you will avoid any conversion fees- the money on the card is already converted into the local currency! You can also log on to the card via an app or website and add more money to the card or just check your balance. You can even add more than one kind of currency if you are traveling to multiple countries! It doesn’t get any easier than that!
