After the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series was cancelled in 2003, the creator of Buffy, Joss Whedon decided to release a comic book series. Which would continue telling the story of Buffy and her friends. Since 2003 there have been 12 seasons of Buffy comic books which have been released. With the 12th season, being the last to be released.

There are just four comic books that comprise season 12, which tell the story about how everyone’s favorite vampire slayer and her loyal friends fought the Harth. If you’ve never heard of the Harth, he’s one of Buffy’s most powerful adversaries and who managed to absorb the memories of all of the vampire slayers who have existed.

As there are talks of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, Joss Whedon decided to wrap up the comic book series which was followed by Sarah Michelle Gellar’s portrayal of Buffy Summers. At the end of season 12 Buffy and her fellow vampire slayer Faith decide to become police cadets, in order to serve in the newly created supernatural division of the police. Which has been set up to protect California from loose demons and vampires. If you’re wondering if Buffy ends up with Angel or Spike, at the end of season 12 Buffy is friends with both men but is single.
What happens to the rest of Buffy’s friends? Buffy’s best friend Willow opens up her own center which is dedicated to supporting and empowering women. While another of Buffy’s squad Xander ends up in a happy romantic relationship with Dawn, who happens to be Buffy’s sister. Xander and Dawn end up raising a daughter together, who they name Joyce in remembrance of Buffy and Dawn’s deceased mother. Lastly Gile’s who is also part of Buffy’s squad and once worked at Buffy’s high school as a librarian, ends up overseeing the Watcher’s Council.. Which is going through a transitional period of reformation, following the events which take part in season 12.
Will there be a new Buffy inspired comic book series?
According to Whedon, there may someday be a new comic book series which centers around the reboot of the much loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer story.
